Steve's Year of Sports

I'm still not sure how he managed to work this all out, but 2009 will certainly go down in Steve's book as the greatest sports year ever! In the past month he has gone to both the Final Four AND The Masters and leaves tomorrow for this weekend's Nascar race at the Richmond Speedway. I'm trying to talk him into playing the lottery because with this kind of luck we might actually win! :-) Even his wife is a bit envious...okay, really of only the Final Four games...but still, it's been quite the whirlwind month.

Below are a few pictures of the Final Four and the Masters. Check out the slideshow on the right hand side to see more pictures of both. Enjoy!

Is Anything Really Kid Proof?

Like most first time parents, Steve & I bought every "kid proof" item known to man and installed them as soon as Sarah became mobile. We've been fortunate so far, but we had to know this day would come.

The other night Steve & I were having a nice conversation after dinner while Sarah was playing. We knew it was a little too quiet in the house, but both thought she was playing up in her room. A few more minutes passed and we realized it was DEFINITELY too quiet so we went to see what she was up to. Sure enough, she had left her room and was now in our bathroom where she'd gotten into my make-up drawer...the one with the child proof lock! She'd decided to make her face up like a cat using my mascara.

Perhaps we should be embarrassed for letting this happen, but to be honest, she was so proud of herself and seeing her face made us both laugh! The best part too was when she started walking around saying, "I'm a kitty cat. Meow!"

By the way, the white stuff on Baby Kate's head is Balmex! Let's just say it wasn't very fun trying to clean that up!

A Day of Remembrance

Today, the Virginia Tech community honors the 32 lives lost and the countless others that were injured during the April 16, 2007 shooting on our campus. As a Hokie, I ask you to take a minute to help us remember those young lives that were cut short well before their time.

The following is a video of the 3.2 Run of Remembrance which took place this morning. The video is a little long, but I felt it truly captures the Hokie Spirit. I hope you will enjoy watching!

Happy Easter

Happy belated Easter everyone! We wanted to share a few pictures with you of our Easter weekend. Sarah had a great time coloring eggs for the first time and loved opening her many Easter baskets. Her excitement definitely made the weekend fun!

Steve's sister Lorri was so excited to make a special Easter Pizza with Sarah. It took a lot of time...and patience...but the end result was certainly worth it. Sarah was so excited to show everyone her pizza! Thanks Aunt Lorri!

Bunny Brunch

On Saturday I took Sarah to her first official Bunny Brunch for Easter. She's been really excited for the Easter Bunny to come this year which has been so much fun. Of course she got scared when she actually saw him, but she seemed to have a good time regardless. After the brunch they held an Easter egg hunt for all of the kids. She did great and it was so much fun watching her "find" all of the eggs.

Here she is with one of the live bunnies they had for the kids to pet.

She even got to feed the bunnies.

Here she is on her first official Easter Egg Hunt. All in all, she didn't do too bad. :-)

Sarah seems to like the idea of the Easter Bunny, but that's where it ends. She tried to be brave and sit on his lap, but as you can see, it didn't go very well.
